Shax is a Great Marquis of Hell, and has power over 30 legions of demonic cavalry. He removeth the sight, hearing, and understanding of any target, and stealeth the coin out of the houses of kings, returning it to the people. Naught may stay hidden from Shax save things kept by evil spirits. His familiars serve faithfully as often as they deceive. He should not be bothered often and suffers short patience. Shax is thought to be faithful and obedient, but proves a great deceiver unless obliged to enter his seal. He will then speak marvellously and tell truths. He tasteth all lies on the air and whisperth critiques of them to those to whom he is bound. He seems as a stork that speaks with a hoarse, subtle voice, but his timber becomes melodious under compulsion of the conjurer.
